My little bruiser. See his lip? That is the result of trying to climb on a box. If flipped and hit him in the mouth, he was bleeding all over from a cut inside his mouth! Now he has a nice black lip!

Such a nice quiet week.

Things have been so nice and peaceful here this week without having to babysit. I think I will easily get use to this.

Ian is still a bit sick. He seems completely normal except he is still very runny and he tires fairly easily. If he acted more sick I might be tempted to take him to the doctor, but honestly he seems fine. I'm hoping it will finish out this week. He's started to say lots of words all the sudden, it seems like there is a new word or two every day. It's so exciting to have more understanding of what he wants!

Gracie is doing very well. She's been spending a lot of time out back with the little pool. The temperatures have really soared this week and it's in the high 90s every day. She really wants to take swimming lessons so I need to get on that. I did get her signed up for two classes though, one for July and one for August. In July she'll be taking a dance/gymnastics/movement class once a week for 45 minutes. In August she's taking a princess class which culminates in a formal tea party. It also meets once a week for 45 minutes. I have no doubt she will really love it.

We have finalized our plans for our trip to my class reunion. We will be road tripping and we are going to take a northern route through Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. We are going to take 4 days to get to Chicago so we can visit places like Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands, Wall Drug, Bear Country USA and whatever else strikes our fancy. There is a lot to see in those areas, we traveled it a few times when I was a kid and it was loads of fun. We will also be stopping in Galesville WI to visit with Chris. Then after 3 days at my dad and Helen's house we're going to try to high-tail it back home in only one night. It's a 16 hour drive straight through which just won't be possible with two little ones, even two 8 hour days will be a lot for them. I'm hoping that they will be worn out from all the activities of the week and will be happy to watch movies and sleep on our way home. I'm very happy to know we will have good and reliable house sitters this time, my friend and fellow blogger Brandi and her family are going to stay here and keep the animals under control!

We had a very nice fathers day around here, James got lots of fun loot! I think his favorites are The Dangerous Book for Boys, and a toy gun that shoots little nerf type balls. The kids love the gun, Gracie calls it "the bammy thingy that bams the balls"! We've developed a night time routine of having the kids run all around on the beds in our room while James shoots them and the walls and the pillows and everything else in the room. It's pretty funny and it wears them out pretty good!

This weekend we will be hanging at home on Saturday. On Sunday the Colorado Breastfeeding Task Force is hosting their National Breastfeeding Celebration down at the DU campus and will be attempting to break the national record of the most mothers breastfeeding their children in one place at one time. I am going to go and hopefully help get above 1,130 mamas and babies. There will also be vendors and children's activities, so it should be fun for all of us!

I think that's about it for now, maybe I'll get some pictures up later today or tomorrow!

What's been up with us.....

Well let's see. The dogs have both been sick with Giardia which has made life very........um........ poopy shall we say. I have cleaned their kennels more the last couple of weeks than I even care to think about. It's disgusting.

The kids came down with colds the end of last week and although they are a lot better they are still pretty snotty. Hopefully it will end soon. They were too sick to take out last weekend so we ended up missing the Parker Country Festival which was a real bummer. They have a fun pancake breakfast on Saturday morning with a great parade afterwards that we had to miss. Sunday we decided that since the kids really shouldn't be out doing much we would take a long drive and we went up to the mountains. We drove up to Woodland Park and had lunch and then drove home. It was practice for our trip to Chicago that is coming up. We have decided to drive instead of fly to my class reunion. A road trip with the two little ones could be interesting! Here's a few pictures from our Sunday drive:

Yesterday was my last day watching Dominik. I was kind of sad, but I'm also very glad to not have to worry about him and how to schedule our lives around the days he's here. We went to the zoo for his last day with my friend Desiree and her 3 little ones. Here is a picture (And no we didn't pose them that way!) :
And here's a shot of Ian who was tired of waiting for us to catch up so he just sat down in the middle of the path!

I am going to sign Gracie up for a couple classes for the end of the summer now, it should be fun. She is going to take swimming lessons and a two hour drop off class where she will get to play and swim and learn how to get along in a group setting without mom around. I'm sure she'll have a blast!

We are still in a wait and see pattern with our house. I talked with the real estate agent again today and she said we will probably need to hold on to this place for the next two years in order to turn a profit of any sort when we sell. That was very disappointing news since we were really hoping to be able to list it for sale by the end of this month. So now we are back at the rental idea. Can you tell we are really confused about this situation, I feel like we are going round and round in circles! We are very ready for more space, in particular a yard. I am also ready to not be connected to my neighbors and have to park outside in a parking lot. Hopefully we can get something figured out soon. I'm at my wits end with the dogs being sick and I think that's what's made me so anxious to get out of here. It's not too bad most of the time, but not having anyplace to stick a sick dog is really frustrating.

The plans for the class reunion finally fell into place and the invitations went out. The responses have been slow but are coming which is nice. I hope to see lots of people I haven't seen in awhile and it will also be fun to show of my little family!

Tomorrow we have plans for dinner out at Joe's with Desiree and Adam and their little crew. I am so glad summer is here and we can eat outside there again. I love the little park they have for the kids. It will probably be a little more tricky this summer though since Ian is a little too unstable to be left to fend for himself among the big kids (not that he thinks that).

Sunday I am not sure what we are doing, James hasn't declared any wishes yet although we have tossed around the idea of going to the Renaissance fair, something we have wanted to do every summer we've been together and have never managed to pull off.
So, that sums it up for now!! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Mommy, I'm a real boy now!!!

I bit the bullet and got Ian's hair cut today. He did very well and the hairstylist was super fast, I cannot say how much I love the kids hair salon in our town, they are so good!!!

So here he is, my baby boy all grown up now!

Our last few days have been very busy! On Friday I was finally able to manage getting to get together with Brandi (Flakes of Bran) and little Adri. We meet at a park and had a real nice time trying to talk while keeping all three kiddos safe!! Here's some shots from the park:

Yesterday we had our babysitter come bright and early at 9am so that we could go pick up a sofa sleeper I found for free on Craigslist. I've wanted to get something else with a bed in this house so now we have a nice comfy bed in our living room. After getting the couch we went to breakfast at a local diner that is designed to be like a 50's diner. It was very yummy! Then we ran to Whole Foods since we were on that side of town. We didn't really get much, just looked around and found some stainless steel water bottles we've been wanting to get. I have decided to purge the rest of my plastic food containers, basically all we've had left is cups and water bottles. Finding an alternative for the kids to drink out of that is also safe is kind of tricky, but I did find a product called Klean Kanteen that comes in a small sippy cup size and I'm going to order a few of those online. We were able to get adult sized ones at Whole Foods though.

After we got home we ate lunch and then we headed out with the kids to look at a house that just went on the market. It's southeast of here and it's quite beautiful. It's a bit smaller than what we're in now square footage wise, but it has an over sized two car garage, a shed, a barn, and it's on 8 acres!!! It's really about as close to our dream property as we've seen yet. It has amazing mountain views and is set on nice open land. We're hoping to get a look inside the house next weekend and then we will be faced with the same question we've been pondering for the last 6 months, sell or rent out this place. The market is finally turning a bit and our real estate agent said the sales that have happened in our neighborhood the last few weeks have shown properties to be holding or gaining value. This is very very encouraging to us, it makes selling a viable option for us. The next week will really help us figure out how to proceed.

Then today we went with another family that we are friends with to downtown Denver to attend The Peoples Fair. We rode the light rail and took the bus down to the area around the capital. It was fun, there was live music playing all over the place, lots of food, and lots of arts and crafts. It was a little chaotic with 5 kids between the two families, but we all had a good time! Here's a few shots of what we did:

Gracie running around and chasing bubbles.

Riding the slide.

Ian riding in luxury.

Gracie and her buddy Spencer.

Gracie working on her special hat.

The finished product!!

I've decided to stop doing my babysitting jobs, it's really been too much stress on all of us and it really hasn't been worth it. I am instead doing a little online work that earns money, taking surveys and signing up for trials. I was leery of it at first but I've been dabbling in it a bit the last few days to see how it all works and I'm really impressed. I am actually being paid by companies to try their stuff or sign up for their services. It takes a little organization because you have to sign up for things you probably won't use for the long run, so I have to keep track of when I need to cancel memberships and stuff so we don't end up spending money. So far so good though, I'll keep you posted!
That's about it around here for now!!

This afternoon Gracie went to the bathroom and the conversation went like this:

Mommy, come here, you gotta see this!!

Look mommy, I had a big shark poo!

A shark poo?

Yes!!!!! Look!!!!!!!

So I looked in the potty, and sure enough she had a nice large log poo with a little tiny "fin" poo placed in just the right spot on top. It was a poo that looked very much like a shark.

I just thought you all should know.
