Yep, it’s a blizzard

Or, as my friend Sue would say, we have a metric fuckton of snow.   She’s from Canada, so she knows snow, I’m not gonna argue with her!

SNOW!!!!

We’ve had a couple small snows already this year, but today is the most, by far. It’s not suppose to stop til tomorrow night, so who knows how much we’ll have by then, but it could be over a foot!  The kids are totally loving it, as you can see by the pictures.  We took a walk to the park and played behind the house quite a bit today.  I just can’t believe the snow is starting this early this year!

48 hours

48 hours ago the kids and I were enjoying 75 degree temperatures and playing at the park.

This week in review

James and the kids snuggled on the couch.

Gracie started her next level swim class.  We got her a swim cap because her hair is getting trashed by the chlorine.  I think she looks like an adorable little 50’s synchronized swimmer when she’s wearing it.

Gracie tried to teach Molly how to play the piano.  Molly wouldn’t have anything to do with it.

Ian spent time brushing up on his Roman history.

And today we had a picnic at Cherry Creek State Park.  It was gorgeous out, a high of 82.  We played by the lake, jumped in leaves, kicked a soccer ball and tossed a football.  It was a really nice afternoon!

Congratulations Gracie!

Today was the last day of swimming lessons for this session and Gracie passed to the next level.  She’s now a Flipper which is the final level for beginning swimmers at our pool!  She can do both the freestyle and backstroke as well as tread water for at least a minute.  She’s been swimming laps in her lessons for awhile now and it’s so amazing to see how far she’s come.  Last fall she couldn’t swim without assistance, now she jumps off the diving board and can do the waterslide safely by herself.    I’m so proud of her!  She starts her next class on Monday and will be swimming with kids 8 and up.

Ian is taking lessons too.  He’s in the Minnow class and is currently trying to conqueror getting his whole head underwater and being comfortable floating.  He’s taking a break from lessons for the next two weeks and will start up again the end of October.

Unfortunately my camera was being stupid (meaning the batteries died and I was having major issues adjusting the focus with the moving water and weird lights) so the pictures from today aren’t super but they preserve the moment anyway!

If Ian had been a girl….

His name would have been Nora.

IMG_5821

Or Colleen and we would have called him Cole.  We weren’t too concerned since we were 99% sure he was a boy.

IMG_5822

He would have made quite a cute girl too though I think.

IMG_5824

Gracie thinks so too.

That’s why she likes to dress him up as her little sister sometimes.  And he’s such a good sport he just does it to humor her.

What a great little brother!
